Our Distinctive Convictions

The first and most important consideration in choosing a church is what it believes and teaches. We believe in the reality of sovereign grace. In other words, we teach that God is sovereign not only in general, but especially in salvation (1 Cor. 1:26-31; Eph 1:3-11; Rom 8:28-32). Salvation is by grace alone (Eph 2:8-10). Although we passionately urge sinners to repent and believe, we believe that people are saved only when God gives them the willingness and the ability to repent and put their faith in Jesus Christ, the one who suffered the wrath of God in place of sinners (Phil 1:6, 29-30; 2Tim 2:24-25). In this, God receives all the glory. (Rom. 11:33-36)

Who Are We?

We are committed Christians, purposing to soberly walk together before God and man to bring glory to the Lord Jesus Christ. We do esteem and love the Lord Jesus Christ, and to that end, we strive to live godly and holy lives to bring Him honor.

What is a Reformed Baptist?

Many people ask the question, "What is a Reformed Baptist?" Simply put, we hold to the great Biblical truths hammered out during the Great Reformation. These same truths were echoed in the past by such men as John Bunyan (writer of Pilgrim's Progress), and the well known London preacher Charles Spurgeon.

We believe doctrine and practice are inseparable. Therefore, we strive both to accurately understand the truth of the Word and to practically apply it to our daily living. What people really believe deeply affects how they live. How people live demonstrates what they really believe. A person cannot consistently have right attitudes or actions without possessing a measure of right doctrine.

Doctrine is a life and death matter. Paul wrote to Timothy, "Pay close attention to yourself and to your teaching; persevere in these things; for as you do this you will ensure salvation both for yourself and for those who hear you" (1 Tim. 4:16). If our faith is to be genuine and saving, it must embrace and be nourished by sound biblical teaching. False teaching can be eternally fatal.

Practice is also a matter of eternal significance. The writer of Hebrews says, "Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord" (Heb. 12:14). The persons whose life does not display practical holiness will not be saved eternally. Though our own practical holiness does not save us, it is proof that we posses genuine saving faith. "Faith without works is dead" (James 2:26) A faith barren of fruits of holy living will save no one.

We acknowledge ourselves to be condemned sinners redeemed only by the blood of Christ. In our struggle against sin, we say with the Apostle, "Forgetting what lies behind and reaching forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus" (Phil. 3:13B-14).

Our Public Worship

We seek to glorify God through honorable worship and the preaching of His word to all. The greater part of each service is given over to expository preaching. We endeavor to make each service interesting and meaningful, but we make no effort to entertain.

We pay careful attention to the biblical content and music quality of the Psalms and hymns we sing. We view the reading of Scripture and public prayer as important elements of each worship service.
